MAZE-O-POLITAN Curriculum:
A Closer Look
Summary
Play, skit, and lessons initiate inquiries about where food comes from and diet and nutrition. Exercises in map making and following directions are included.
Introduction
Poppy and Pat’s dad is surprised when he hears how little his kids know about the food they eat and where it comes from. So, on the first day of summer vacation, he gives them a map and assigns them the task of following their favorite food, Sunnyside Rolls, to the source. Poppy and Pat’s adventure starts at the local grocery store but takes them to the bakery and eventually to the very farm that supplied the fresh ingredients to Sunnyside Rolls. Poppy and Pat spend the day working on the farm and in the process discover the secret to Sunnyside Rolls and are exposed to other new fresh foods. Follow That Food is a humorous exploration of farms, food processing and markets that will inspires students to ask questions and learn about the foods we eat every day.
